Roll-R-Cover Adverse Conditions

Sand and Extreme Dust

It’s important to consider that Roll-R-Cover is made up many moving parts. The curtain features dozens of slats that interlock and feature enclosed rubber seals to help keep water from passing through. By it’s nature, these slats do separate when opening the roll top as the curtain rolls into the canister. During this action, there is a risk of sand and dust seeping in between the slats. By the time the curtain is moved back into the closed position, the gaps shut and can trap the debris inside.
We recommend customers do not operate the roll top when there is a clear and obvious amount of sand or dust on the curtain for this reason. Though it is possible to clean most of the debris out with compressed air, it can take time to do this and to do it properly, we typically recommend removing the curtain from the tub entirely.

Corrugated Roads

In developing roll tops, two of our primary goals is to ensure a tight and secure fit to keep water out and also to have a mechanism that operates smoothly and consistently.
For this, we require a snug fit but with minimal resistance between moving curtain and the curtain runners on the side rail. In our experience, vehicles being subject to regular driving on corrugated roads can adversely affect these components, with the regular bumps and vibrations causing damage to the curtain runners.

This isn’t to say that a single trip on a corrugated road will destroy the roll top. Our concern is for the rare instances where customers live in areas where they are driving regularly on such roads. Under these circumstances we would suggest that a roll top might not be the right product for their circumstances.

Water

It is important to note that we do not claim that the HSP Roll-R-Cover is waterproof, after all no roll top on the market can make this claim. We prefer to say that it is weather resistant.
We’ve worked very hard to ensure that minimal if any water enters the tub via the roll top and the unit is very effective in doing this, however we do recognise that small amounts of moisture can enter via other parts of the tub, particularly via gaps in the vehicles tail gate.

The curtain features dozens of slats that interlock and feature enclosed rubber seals to help keep water from passing through which they do extremely effectively without compromising security. In addition to this, we have a high flow drainage system that can drain 60 litres of water per minute.
