In episode 2 of the Ultimate HiLux Build Series, we’re turning our attention to one of the most noticeable and important upgrades on any 4×4: wheels and tyres.
The HSP Vehicle Accessories N90 Toyota HiLux is getting a serious upgrade with ROH Zullo Wheels and Predator X-AT Tyres, bringing together a tougher stance, improved off-road capability and the confidence to take on real Australian terrain.
Episode 2: Building the Right Foundation
Why Wheels and Tyres Matter
Wheels and tyres are among the first things you notice on a modified 4WD, but their role goes well beyond appearance.
The right setup needs to balance on-road comfort, off-road traction, durability and the demands of everyday driving. From highway kilometres to rough tracks and challenging terrain, choosing the right combination is an important step in creating a capable touring and off-road vehicle.
For our HiLux, that means finding a setup that delivers the right look while being ready for the conditions this build is being designed to tackle.
Introducing the ROH Zullo Wheels
For this stage of the build, we’ve fitted the HiLux with ROH Zullo wheels, giving the ute a more purposeful look and helping establish the tougher stance we’re chasing.
Wheel choice plays a major role in the overall appearance of a 4WD, but fitment is just as important. Offset, width and compatibility all need to be considered to ensure the wheels work with the vehicle and its intended use.
The goal is to create a wheel setup that complements the HiLux while supporting the broader direction of the build.
Predator X-AT Tyres: Ready for the Bush
Pairing the wheels with the right tyres is where the package really comes together.
The HiLux is now running Predator X-AT tyres, selected to suit the dual-purpose nature of this build. With a focus on both road use and off-road adventures, the tyre choice is an important part of preparing the ute for the varied conditions Australian drivers encounter.
From sealed roads and long touring trips to loose surfaces and rugged tracks, the right tyre setup helps provide the traction and durability needed to get more out of a 4WD.
The Fitment Process: Getting the Setup Right
